Somatic Plant Workshop

Thursday, 6/20/24
11 - 12pm PDT / 2 - 4pm EDT

Have you ever had a moment where you looked at a plant and experienced a sense of awe, ease, joy or surrender? Have you ever gotten flowers for someone you love? When you picture a place of beauty, are there plants present?

Join environmental historian and award winning author Jessica Lee, alongside somatic yoga teacher Diana May for a gathering to bridge their love of plants with our human existence. This gathering will be in honor of the Summer Solstice and can be a way to slow down and sense the shift in seasons.

Participants will be asked to contemplate a plant that is important to them in some way shape or form. We will have some time for a somatic movement practice (all levels welcome, and no special clothing or equipment required-- just something comfortable for you) to drop into your own experience. Jessica will read from her newest book Dispersals: On Plants, Borders & Belonging. And we will share our love of plants together.

This is a donation-based event. All donations will be sent to Seeding Sovereignty. Seeding Sovereignty is a multi-lens collective that works to radicalize and disrupt colonized spaces through land, body, and food sovereignty work, community building, and cultural preservation. By investing in Indigenous folks and communities of the global majority, we cross the threshold of liberation together.
